A manly manicure
isn't hard to achieve but there are a few small things that you might be
neglecting if you're not sure about how to perform a complete manicure.
On the whole, manicuring the man's nails is similar to a woman's manicure but does requires a slightly different approach.
Steps
-
1Keep male nails short. They should be clipped straight across and filed into a round or square shape. Keep the edges kept very neat.
- File the top of the nails in one direction only. This prevents the creation of jagged edges, which stresses the nails.
-
2Buff the nails using a nail buffer with or without oil, depending on personal preference. For the non-oil method, simply use the buffer by itself, drawing it across the nails in a horizontal manner from the base of the nail to its top. If you are not familiar with how to buff, the black side of the buff is used first, followed by the white side, and completed with the gray side. If using the oil method, add suitable nail oil prior to buffing and proceed as previously outlined.
-
3Brush off any nail dust around the edges on the fingers.
-
4Consider the application of any products. Many men would prefer only cutting and buffing and not have products applied as well. It is helpful, however, to use a clear base coat and top coat––it won't be obvious but can offer some protection and shine.
- Applying moisturizer to the cuticles will help to keep them soft.
-
5If you're providing manicures for men in a salon, ask your client if he is happy with the manicure and suggest that he make a booking for another manicure in another two to three weeks.Source : wikihow.com
